Do you know what to expect during a roadside check?
The inspection will be carried out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the purpose of these checks is to ensure that vehicles on the road meet minimum safety standards and are in a roadworthy condition. The inspections can include checks on the vehicle’s lights, brakes, tyres, and other equipment, as well as a check of the driver’s documentation, such as a valid license and insurance.
During the check, the DVSA inspector will also inspect the tachograph equipment to make sure it is functioning correctly and that the records it has produced are accurate and complete. The inspector may also check the driver’s tachograph card to ensure that the driver has complied with drivers’ hours rules.
