Kevin Rooney, West of England Traffic Commissioner, has warned that haulier’s O-licences may be at risk if they are not being vigilant of defects.

Speaking at the Road Transport Expo, Rooney stated that hauliers need to be wary of the state of the trailers they are collecting and warned that if you are caught hauling a trailer with defects, it could have serious implications for your O-licence.

Driving a truck or hauling a trailer with defects carries serious safety risks for both the driver of the truck, but also other road users.

Karen Crispe, our Commercial Director, says “walkaround checks should always include the trailer, regardless of ownership. Our Walkaround module ensures customers can select a trailer with the relevant checklist”.

The Walkaround module makes it quick and easy for drivers to check for and report defects to the operator. On our platform, drivers click through the checklist and register the health of the vehicle before setting off on route. Once this is complete, it is uploaded and can be accessed and analysed by the fleet manager in the Convey system.
