The law has changed on using your mobile phone while driving.
Until now, the law has prevented drivers from โinteractive communicationโ while driving, but the new laws tighten the rules to include a wide range of mobile phone uses.
These are:
๐ illuminating the screen
๐ checking the time
๐ checking notifications
๐ unlocking the device
๐ making, receiving, or rejecting a telephone or internet based call
๐ sending, receiving or uploading oral or written content
๐ sending, receiving or uploading a photo or video
๐ utilising camera, video, or sound recording
๐ drafting any text
๐ accessing any stored data such as documents, books, audio files, photos, videos, films, playlists, notes or messages
๐ accessing an app
๐ accessing the internet.
There are a few exceptions, which allow you to use your in built and hands free functions in your phone, but you could still be prosecuted if either of these actions cause dangerous driving.
