At the CV show in May the DVSA gave some statistics which confirmed the top 5 defects and offences for both HGVs and PSVs.

Drivers hours and tachograph records are on both of the top 5 lists.

HGV’s

• Exceed 4.5 hours drive
• Condition of tyres
• Tachograph charts/records
• Insufficient daily rest
• Excess weight

PSVs

• Tachograph charts/records
• Condition of tyres
• Seatbelt & supplementary restraint systems
• Exceed 4.5 hours drive
• Door & PSV passenger doors
