The Department for Transport (DfT) launched a consultation about proposed changes to the Driver CPC qualification back in March 2023.

The DfT have been gathering opinions on the proposed reforms which will impact how the DCPC qualification is maintained or regained when a driver returns to their job after absence.

Potential measures being considered include:
▪️ reducing minimum course lengths to enhance flexibility of delivering periodic training,
▪️ the option of new periodic test as an alternative to periodic training, which will be delivered by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA),
▪️ an accelerated route for former drivers to return to the sector more easily.

The opportunity to participate in the consultation online has now closed and we await the results.
