A few days ago we warned that vehicle testing and enforcement services might be affected by the PCS union strikes.
Some National Highways staff including road control room staff and traffic officers, are also planning to take part in the 12 days of action.
These strikes started last weekend and continue into this Christmas weekend, with action taking place today, tomorrow, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Director of policy and research at IAM RoadSmart, Neil Greig, warned that “we have already seen busier roads when rail strikes are taking place”, so this action will only create further disruption and may create more safety risks on the roads.
We urge all drivers working over this already busy Christmas period to be extra-vigilant on the roads.
